HDR + COLOR GRADING
Taking 3 photos at different exposures and then merging them (HDR) is key to create a sort of surreal image where the shadows and highlights are much less pronounced and more detailed than on your average single-exposure photo. The leading HDR software on the market is Photomatix (which is free if you don't mind the watermark HERE) and we will be using it for the initial stage of this tutorial. After getting the settings right in Photomatix, we will transfer the image in Photshop where we will do the heavy lifting by increasing the level of details of the photo as well as turning a late afternoon scene into a creepy evening scene.
